The Government of India, Ministry of Tribal Affairs is providing the National Overseas Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe Candidates. This scheme aims at providing financial assistance to students who are selected for pursuing higher studies abroad in definite subjects at Master’s Level, Ph.D. and Post-Doctoral research programmes. The number of subjects covered under this scheme is engineering, management, economic, finance, pure science, applied science, agriculture, medicine, humanities and social science.
The last date for submitting the application form is December 11, 2017. In order to be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants need to go through the below-mentioned procedure:
Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidate’s age should be below 35 as on the first day of July of the relevant year of the award.
- For Post- Doctoral: 55% or equivalent grade in relevant Master’s Degree and Ph.D.: with 5 years of experience in research, teaching, professional in the concerned field would be desirable.
- For Ph.D.: 55% or equivalent grade in relevant Master’s Degree with 2 years of experience in research, teaching, professional, M.Phil. degree in the concerned field.
- For Master’s degree: 55% or equivalent grade in relevant Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience in concerned field.
- Candidate’s annual family income must not be above INR 6 Lacs.
- Only one child per family is allowed for the scholarship and for this a self-certification will be required from the candidate.
Scholarship Reward:
- The total number of awards will be 20 out of which 17 will be for Scheduled Tribes and 03 will be for particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PTG).
- The annual maintenance allowance of 15,400 US Dollar will be given in US for all level courses covered under this scheme. For UK candidates the amount will be 9,900 Pound Sterling. For other countries, US Dollar or equivalent rates will be applicable.
- The annual contingency and equipment allowance will be given for books, essential, apparatus, study tour, typing and binding of thesis etc. which will be 1532 US Dollar for US candidates and for UK candidates it will be 1116 Pound Sterling. For other countries, US Dollar or equivalent rates will be applicable.
- Poll Tax, Visa Fees, Incidental Journey Expenses, Fees, medical Insurance Premium, Cost of Air Passage and local travel expenses will also be paid.
