IIT Roorkee, MoRTH, IRC Collaborate In Mutual Interest Areas

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee signs an MOU with Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Govt. of India (MoRTH) and Indian Roads Congress (IRC), New Delhi recently.

IITR, MoRTH and IRC have agreed to collaborate in the areas of mutual interest with special focus in the spirit of intellectual cooperation, scholarly exchange, and the development of partnership.

The MoU was signed by S.K. Nirmal, Secretary General IRC, New Delhi, I K Pandey DG (RD) & Special Secretary Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India (MoRTH) and M. Parida Deputy Director, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.

M. Parida Deputy Director, IIT Roorkee said “The purpose of this MoU is to develop Road safety audit pool who can help in identifying safety issues and remedial measures on highways and streets and contribute towards improving overall road traffic safety in the country. We are delighted to collaborate with MoRTH and IRC and contribute to the prestigious programme.”

With leading training institutions, having expert faculty in traffic & transportation engineering and road safety as well as necessary infrastructure facility have agreed to initiate 15 days curriculum/ course for training of Road Safety & Safety Audit and other related matters emerge over time for benefit of highway engineers/road departments finalized by Expert Committee headed by DG (RD), Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India (MoRTH) in order to maintain uniformity through out the country.
