IIT Bhubaneswar Goes Green With Battery Operated Vehicles Inside The Campus

IIT Bhubaneswar adopted a green culture and is promoting greener ecosystem along with providing a pollution-free atmosphere by introducing the battery operated vehicle service for the residents at the campus.

The vehicle service was inaugurated today by R.V. Raja Kumar, Director of the Institute.

R.V Raja Kumar said, “We at IIT Bhubaneswar are committed towards building a green campus, we have achieved a fairly good amount of success in this endeavour through our massive plantation drives, cycling culture, zero discharge designs following GRIHA norms, rain-water harvesting, and the same will continue".

He added, "With the installation of electric vehicles inside the campus, we look forward to going one step ahead on lines with the Govt. of India who have been working aggressively on promoting new and renewable sources. The campusites can avail this as a means of transportation and it is helpful to all the residents on the campus".

The battery operated vehicles are going to be operated inside the campus on nominal charges in the best interest of the residents residing in the campus. This service will be operated and maintained within the campus by Maini Materials Movement Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, India.

Kumar further thanked Maini Materials Movement, Bangalore for partnering with IIT Bhubaneswar as the service provider in this endeavour. The inaugural ceremony saw active participation from students, faculty and staff members in large numbers.
