Govt Introduces KAMP To Make India A Global Leader In The Field Of Science, Technology And Humanities

After initiatives like Atal Tinkering Lab and Jigyasa to bring reform Science and technology education by the Government of India. This year 'KAMP', as one of the major initiative, has been taken up by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (CSIR-NISTADS) to identify and capture Scientific and Technological temperament in students to make 'India -A Global Leader in the Field of Science, Technology & Humanities"

CSIR-NISTADS is one of the premier institution and a constituent laboratory of CSIR, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. to provide inputs to policymakers for formulating the policy of Science, Technology, Innovation (STI) and entrepreneurship.

Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform (KAMP) is also inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a new India and Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR) of Scientific Community and Institutions. The Platform was launched and inaugurated by K Vijay Raghavan (Principle Scientific Advisor, Govt. of India) and Dr. Shakher C. Mande (Director General, CSIR). 

“Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform (KAMP), also aimed to develop and map the Scientific Temperament of children, will help nurture, innovation, and creativity from an early age. The analyses of the mapping data would be used to create inputs for S&T policy so as the new generation of scientific leaders are produced in the country," said Dr. Ranjana Aggrawal, Director, CSIR-NISTADS.

KAMP has been initiated to identify and promote gifted and talented students in the field of Science, Technology, and Humanities across India. Based on the algorithm and design development by CSIR-NISTADS, KAMP would support in identifying the talent at a primitive stage and nurturing them in their areas of strength.  

"The enrolment for KAMP – National Assessment for Scientific Temperament and Aptitude (NASTA)-2019 will be open to all the students of classes Vth - Xth studying in schools affiliated to CBSE as well as other State Boards in the country, the registration will be open for all Schools from 1st Sep 2019 through KAMP portal http://kamp.nistads.res.in and assessment will take place in Jan-20," said Puneet Kumar, Secretary, KAMP Planning and Monitoring Committee.
