DSIJ And IFIM Founder Vijaysingh B Padode Dies Aged 84

The founder of Dalal Street Investment Journal (DSIJ), IFIM Group of Institutions and VijayBhoomi University (VBU) passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. Vijaysingh B Padode was born on 11th February 1935 in Sindi (Maharashtra). 

Being an early-riser and a hard worker, V B Padode earned double graduation, and a law degree, while simultaneously working at the Central Statistical Organisation(CSO). He then joined the Indian Revenue Service. Aspiring to make it big and dreaming big, he moved to Mumbai with his wife and three sons in 1972.

With the untapped opportunity beckoning them in offering investment information, Vijaysingh B Padode, along with his eldest son Pratap, who was a chartered accountant, decided to start an investment consultancy - Dalal Street Investment Journal (DSIJ) in January 1986.

With Sanjay having an engineering background, he joined the business and forayed into information technology and later his third son Rajesh, an engineer, led the group's foray into stockbroking services. Today, DSIJ is a leading financial magazine with a loyal following of more than 150,000 readers. DSIJ group also pioneered real-time Market Data Dissemination, Online and real-time trading solutions for brokers and stock exchanges.

Vijaysingh B Padode founded the IFIM Business School in 1995 which went on to become India’s 6th AACSB-accredited Institution and was ranked 28th in India by Business Today in 2018. In the 25 years of its journey, the IFIM group also grew and established a Law School and a Degree College.

His most recent contribution to the cause of quality education in the country is the Vijay Bhoomi University (VBU) based in Karjat, Raigarh, Maharashtra, established by an act by Maharashtra and is Maharashtra's first private greenfield university.
