Design Is The Origin Of Future Trends: Shashi Tharoor

Shashi Tharoor Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha talked about the importance of Design in shaping the future of an individual while interacting with students of Indian Institute of Art and Design at its annual Graduate Show. He said, "Design is very important for our country as it is essential because you are shaping the wing which we experience the world around us".

Addressing the students Tharoor said, “For maintaining the originality of any product design is important whether it is clothes we wear, the type we read the books we look at or the animation we see. You are shaping the quality of life in the country and also enhancing the way we perceive abroad. When abroad discover what India look like they see us through the design of our product".

'The Graduate Fashion Show' showcased some of the best work done by the graduating students of IIAD. These included chic to bold designs that were inspired from the industry grade learning methodology. The collections were quite diverse and were very much creatively portrayed. The show is a platform for the students to showcase their creative talent while creating a bridge between the students and commercial markets. 

On this occasion, renowned people from fashion industry and celebrities Sunil Sethi - President FDCI, Tarun Tahiliani- noted Indian fashion designer, Leena Singh – from label Ashima-Leena, Aneeth Arora - Pero, Hemant and Nandita Lalwani - label Hemant and Nandita, Shani Himanshu – 11.11/eleven eleven, Varun Rana for Varun Rana, Laila Tyabji founder of Daskar,  Ritu Sethi for Delhi Crafts Council , were among the many dignitaries present.

The students were awarded under the categories of Most Creative Collection - Mahima Sharma and Dakshita Jain, Best technically executed collection- Faizan Khan and Visheshtha Sharma and the Special Jury Award - Aditi Ghosh

Dr Jitin Chadha, Director at Indian Institute of Art and Design said, "I am filled with immense joy and pride today. The hard work and resilience of both the Fashion Design students and faculty was evident during the show. I am thrilled to see what is in store for them in future and looking forward to see them prosper as professionals now”.
