Students are generally excited to get admission at the prestigious Delhi University. Every year many students apply to reserve a seat in this university. Last year, the university had started the admission process on May 15.

When asked about the reason for the delay in the admission process this year, Prof Rajeev said, " There are several reasons for the delay. "The registration process will remain opened only for two weeks this time where students can fill all the details. Once the registration process is over. We'll be releasing the cut off list within a week's time," he added.

Apart from caste reservations and extracurricular activities quota, this time the Govt of India has introduced a new category of reservation for 'Economically Weaker Section', accepting the guidelines of the government.

Every year millions of students register for higher studies in this university. On enquiring about the number of seats this time, Rajeev Gupta explained, "For 2019- 20 academic year, we'll be including the first phase of EWS addition. Last year, the total number of seats was 56,000. This time there will be as many as 6000 seats due to the inclusion of 10% reservation under EWS category, so nearly 62,000 seats will be available and reservation schemes will be at par with govt guidelines."
