118 High School Girl Toppers Get Samsung Tablets

The Bengaluru edition of ‘Chetana’, the girl empowerment skilling program of the Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka was held in the city today. As part of the programme, 118 SSLC student toppers from BBMP High Schools in and around Bengaluru Rural and Urban area were given Samsung Tablets.

The students were also given an on-hands training on how to use the tablet.  As part of the day-long event, they were taken through sessions on Bio-Technology, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and Entrepreneurship.

Delivering the keynote address, Prashant Kumar Mishra, Managing Director, Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS) said, “The aim of the program is to equip SSLC Toppers from Government High Schools with awareness, orientation and exposure to Technology and Entrepreneurship. The idea is to instill in them the confidence and encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in the State."

"Chetana is part of the Department’s effort to increase the penetration of IT across the state. These students have already proved that they are capable by topping the SSLC Examination in their respective schools and we are giving them tablets to increase curiosity and become successful entrepreneurs,” he added.

The students were also awarded certificates of recognition from KITS, Department of IT, BT and S&T.
