Shiv Nadar University Leads Research In India For International Citizen Project COVID-19

Shiv Nadar University, a multidisciplinary and research-focussed university, today announced that it is leading the India research for the prestigious International Citizen Project COVID-19. The study aims to measure public adherence and effectiveness of the interventions recommended by the Government and identify methods that will help in 'flattening the curve' until a vaccine or treatment is licensed.

Dr Samit Bhattacharyya, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics at Shiv Nadar University is collaborating with an international consortium of scientists from 21 countries (in Asia, Africa, South America, United States and Europe) for this project and will help analyse the trend in India. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Governments across the globe have implemented a complete lockdown in their respective countries. The research study will, thus, focus on understanding the feasibility and impact of public adherence to the lockdown measures.

The findings of the study will contribute towards tackling potential recurrent episodes and preparing for future pandemics. The health authorities will be immediately informed about the indicators of poor adherence so that they can develop and implement targeted interventions.

Participation in the survey study is voluntary and all details will be kept anonymous. The results of the study are expected to be announced in the next month.
