QS Employability Rankings 2018: IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay in world rankings
According to the latest QS Graduate Rankings 2018, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi(IIT- D) and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay(IIT-B) have emerged as the country’s strongest providers of highly employable graduates while University of Delhi has emerged as a provider of highly successful alumni.
IIT D and IIT B now rank in the 191-200 categories that have been ranked by the global higher education experts. Also ranked are University of Mumbai and Indian Institute of Technology Madras in the 201-250 category.
Delhi University figured in the top league of institutions regarding their alumni outcomes indicator and scored a 96.6 out of 100- the 21st highest score in the world. This measured how successful a university is in producing high achieving graduates. The University of Mumbai also scored high in this regard, an 85.0 on 100.
“These results indicate that universities cannot rely on reputation alone. They also need to ensure that they are committed to innovative teaching methods, proactively forge relationships with businesses, and provide numerous opportunities for students to meet potential future employers,” said Ben Sowter, research director, QS.
Stanford University emerged as the world leader globally, leading the graduate employability rankings followed by University of California in Los Angeles(UCLA) and Harvard University in the third position.
Each institution is scored according to five indicators: employer reputation(30%), Partnerships with employers per faculty(25%), alumni outcomes(25%), graduate employment rate(10%) and employer student connections(10%).
