Initiatives For Skill Development In Tripura

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Jal Shakti, has launched skill development initiatives in Tripura under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship's Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, aiming to empower the youth with demand-driven, future-ready and industry-ready skills.

The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) initiative aims to equip over 48,000 youth in Tripura with over 100 future skills in 3D additive manufacturing, drone technology and data engineering, with on-the-job training and robust industry partnerships, aiming to drive their aspirations.

“The Narendra Modi Government is working to ensure that every young Indian in Tripura has access to skilling programmes and opportunities, enabling them to secure jobs, engage in self-employment and foster entrepreneurship. This aligns with the vision of 'Naya Bharat', which aims to nurture a generation that is the luckiest in Independent India's history. PM Modi has taken it upon himself to reverse the legacy of disadvantaged young Indians without skills and education, implementing initiatives such as PM Vishwakarma Yojana, upliftment of traditional artisans, PM Svanidhi for street vendors and skilling initiatives for companies like Microsoft and Flipkart”, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MoS, Electronics & Information Technology, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Jal Shakti, said.

“The speaker is inspired by the Prime Minister's vision of a Viksit Bharat 2047, highlighting the importance of skilled youth in unlocking potential. They are committed to fostering a culture that celebrates cultural heritage and future promise, using the Guru Ka Samman symbol as a symbol of preserving roots and embracing innovation”, Kumari Pratima Bhowmik, Minister of State, Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India, said.

Traditional artisans and craftsmen in five trades, including tailors, fishing net makers, Carpenter, bamboo crafts and pottery are celebrated at the event. Various virtual training centers are launched in west Tripura, certified beneficiaries from vulnerable tribal groups under PM JANMAN,and honoured those receiving employment opportunities in Japan.

Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, National Institute of Technology, Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, National Institute of Technology and Information Technology and Tripura Institute of Technology have exchanged four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to establish strong foundations for skill development initiatives. This initiative aims to unlock the potential of the youth and propel the state towards economic prosperity and sustainable development.
