Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) marked the successful conclusion of its 12th convocation ceremony on 27 October 2023. The event was a celebration of the academic accomplishments of 715 graduates who completed their undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs.
During the ceremony, 452 B.Tech. students specialising in various fields and 237 MTech students, including four dual-degree holders, were recognised. In addition, 26 Ph.D. recipients were honoured for their outstanding achievements in various disciplines.
This year, the institute embraced a significant change in tradition by introducing a culturally resonant convocation attire. Departing from the conventional colonial robe and hat, graduates adorned traditional kurtas and stoles, symbolising IIIT-Delhi's commitment to embracing cultural heritage while emphasising the importance of tradition and identity in academic milestones.
The esteemed Chancellor, Hon’ble LG, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, graced the ceremony with his presence. He extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates, acknowledging their dedication and perseverance and also lauded the support of educators, parents, mentors and friends who played pivotal roles in their academic journey.
Prof Ranjan Bose, Director IIIT-Delhi, delivered a motivational address to the graduating students and presented the Director’s Report for the year 2022-23. Encouraging the graduands he said, “Choose the path that excites you, challenges your intellectual capabilities, harnesses your talents and engages your mind most productively. What makes you unique is the spark that you carry within. Remember, the line between ‘what is possible’ and ‘not possible’ is for you to draw, not for others to define. However, don't confuse success with excellence, which should be your primary focus.”
