Educators Emphasise Emotional Well Being Of Students In A Tech Driven World

In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, educators are recognising the critical importance of nurturing the emotional well-being of students alongside academic excellence. Leaders from prominent educational institutions share their insights and strategies with BW Education to address the growing concern of emotional and mental imbalances among students.

Nitin Viijay, founder and CEO of Motion Education, underlined the significance of emotional well-being in a child's development. He emphasised the need for educators to create strong bonds with students, enabling them to confide their concerns comfortably. Viijay said, “Understanding a child's emotional state is pivotal in imparting wisdom and motivation effectively. He also urged parents to be more aware and sensitive to their children's emotional needs.”

Rahul Attuluri, CEO, and Co-founder of NxtWave, highlighted the role of teachers in shaping the future and the importance of addressing emotional well-being. He pointed out that teaching in the student's mother tongue helps them learn without fear, particularly for those from small towns and villages. Attuluri also mentioned their focus on XPM mindset training sessions, aiding students in managing emotions and ensuring well-being in all aspects of life.

Lalit Fulara, a faculty member at Hero Vired, shared his teaching approach, which prioritizes building genuine, ethical relationships with students. He said, “This trust allows educators to provide feedback that fosters improvement while maintaining emotional well-being.”

Fulara also delved into the societal pressures and distractions affecting students' emotional and mental balance, advocating for educators to reflect on their roles and create open channels for communication.

Silpi Sahoo, Chairperson of SAI International Education Group, highlighted their student-centric approach, where emotional well-being is at the core. She said, “The complex factors contributing to emotional imbalances, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic are the excessive social media usage.”

Sahoo stressed the need for educators to build trust, promote stress management and involve parents in nurturing students' emotional health.

Dheeraj Mahrotra Principal of Kunwar’s Global School Lucknow, emphasised the importance of maintaining high academic standards while nurturing students' emotional well-being.

He pledged to inspire students and encourage responsible technology usage. Mahrotra called for continuous learning and the development of skills that would prepare students to become valuable contributors to society.

Educators across the board emphasise that in an increasingly digital world, focusing on the emotional well-being of students is not only a necessity but also a moral imperative. The combined efforts of educators, parents, and society at large are essential to ensure that the next generation thrives emotionally, intellectually, and socially.
