Azim Premji University Is Holding Exhibition Of Schoolbooks Archive

Azim Premji University is holding an exhibition of its Schoolbooks Archive, an open-access digital repository of over 7900 books and related materials, along with a few hundred print copies of archived books from July 19-21 at Udaipur, Rajasthan. The three-day exhibition - 'Schoolbooks and Related Documents: A Journey through Two Centuries' - is being held jointly with the Vidya Bhawan Society.

In November 2021, Azim Premji University unveiled the Schoolbooks Archive, an attempt to collect and curate schoolbooks and related documents that have been in use in India and the sub-continent over the last two hundred years. The growing collection includes textbooks, anthologies, reference works such as dictionaries, glossaries, atlases, works on school management, pedagogy, psychology and health manuals and scores of curriculum documents for school and teacher education programmes.

With its focus on history and the contemporary world, the repository is expected to benefit teachers, teacher educators, students in teacher education courses, curriculum and textbook developers, illustrators, and researchers on various aspects of school education.
