Udghosh'23 : IIT Kanpur Organises Sports Extravaganza

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur hosted Udghosh '23, a huge sports spectacular, from 6 to 8October 2023. This nationally renowned event brought together 2,200 talented athletes representing 36 colleges from across India.

This three-day event showcased competition across 17 sporting disciplines. From track and field comprising athletics to the intellectual battlefield of chess, each sport provided a stage for both young men and women to showcase their prowess. Team events saw nearly 20 matches in each discipline, utilising the world-class facilities at IIT Kanpur. 

“As IIT Kanpur bids adieu to Udghosh '23, the organising team and management would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all those who made this grand event possible. It's not just about the athletes; it's about the dedicated student organisers, the coaches, support staff, security personnel and IIT Kanpur’s ever-supportive campus community, who stood behind this extravaganza. It's also about the administrative and support teams who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the faculty colleagues whose presence significantly contributed to the event's success,” Prof Chandra Shekhar Upadhyay, Chairman FAC-Udghosh said.

For specially-abled athletes, the festival organised 'UDAAN,' featuring events such as carrom, chess, athletics, cricket and badminton. The event witnessed 150 remarkable participants who left an indelible mark with their unwavering determination, unshakable confidence in their abilities and an exemplary display of humility in their conduct.
