PM Internship Scheme Is Creating Unprecedented Opportunities For Youth

Path-breaking initiatives in the education and skilling sector that are proving to be game-changer

Education in India is at a transformative crossroads, where the vision of NEP 2020 is gradually taking shape, paving the way for a more inclusive, skill-oriented, and future-ready system. The year 2024 has been particularly momentous, with advancements in integrating skill-based education and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies.

Artificial intelligence, in particular, has become a game-changer, offering immense potential to personalise education, enhance learning outcomes, and prepare students for emerging sectors. At Medhavi Skills University, we have embraced these changes wholeheartedly, launching initiatives like integrated BTech in Computer Science (AI & ML) programmes with Polaris School of Technology, our industry skilling partner for this course. These advanced courses offer students industry-immersive experiential learning.

NEP 2020’s emphasis on inclusivity, multidisciplinary learning, vocational training, and industry-academia collaboration is reshaping the skills scenario in the country to create a workforce that is equipped to lead in a rapidly changing world. This will empower

people from every region of India, especially the north-east which is a talent pool but has been overlooked in the past in terms of educational development.

The recently launched PM Internship Scheme complements this vision by creating unprecedented opportunities for youth from underprivileged communities to access internships in the country’s top companies. Such initiatives foster skill development and bridge the gap between education and employability. At Medhavi Skills University, we strongly support this transformative approach by integrating internships and apprenticeships into our programmes through strategic collaborations with leading industry partners. Our flagship initiatives like the Work Integrated Skilled based Higher Education (WISE) programme and partnerships with industry leaders enable students to gain real-world experience, fostering both employability and industry relevance.

As we look ahead to 2025, the aspiration must be to scale these innovations to ensure they reach every corner of the country. The future demands a paradigm shift—from traditional rote learning to a skill-first mindset where practical knowledge and real-world applications drive education. The integration of government schemes like NAPS (National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme), NATS (National Apprenticeship Training Scheme), and AEDP (Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Program) in higher education offers significant potential for practical and experiential learning. Hopefully in 2025, this integration will be more widespread.

India’s young population is its greatest strength, and their empowerment through a robust education ecosystem will define our success in the global economy.
