Ministry Of Skill Development Hosts IndiaSkills 2024: Empowering 900+ Participants Across 61 Trades

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship organised an inauguration ceremony in Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, presenting The IndiaSkills Competition 2024, the largest skill competition in India, which began on May 15, 2024 and will continue till May 19th, 2024; involving 900+ candidates from 30+ states and Union Territories and 400+ industry experts. 

The MSDE held an opening ceremony attended by Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, MSDE, Nilambuj Sharan, Senior Economic Advisor, MSDE and Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC & MD, NSDC International. The event featured a cultural programme featuring various dance forms from across the country, with all participating states showcasing their teams and cultural diaspora. The event will feature competitions in multiple skills such as Construction, Building Technology, Creative Arts and Fashion, Information and Communication Technology, Manufacturing and Engineering Technology and Transportation and Logistics. 

The IndiaSkills Competition 2024 is organised by The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), to showcase 61 skills, from traditional crafts to cutting-edge technologies. The event will include 47 onsite competitions and 14 offsite ones in Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. 9 exhibition skills will be showcased, including drone-making, textile-weaving, leather-shoemaking and prosthetics-makeup.

Around 2.5 lakh candidates registered for the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) competition, with 26,000 shortlisted through pre-screening. The data was shared with states for state and district-level competitions, with over 900 students further shortlisted for the IndiaSkills National competition.

IndiaSkills winners, aided by industry trainers, will prepare for the WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France in September 2024, featuring 1,500 competitors from 70 countries.

Participants in the WorldSkills and IndiaSkills Competitions can earn credits within the National Credit Framework, aligning all skills with the National Skills Qualification Framework. This year, IndiaSkills has incorporated a competition information system called Qrencia for the first time, enabling participants to credit their learning outcomes and lead successful careers.
