MBU Engineering Students Win Big At IIT (BHU) Hackathon

Mohan Babu University's Engineering College students achieved remarkable success in the ‘Hackathon hosted by IIT Varanasi’, part of Asia's oldest Techno-Management fest, Technex'24. Two teams from MBU Engineering College demonstrated their exemplary skills and innovative spirit in a challenging environment.

The WaveWords project, developed by MBU students, won first place in the Hackathon competition. The innovative project uses advanced sensor technology and data processing algorithms to translate hand gestures into spoken words, aiding individuals with vocal expression challenges. It represents the intersection of technology and social impact.

The WaveWords Project, created by a team of four students, was expertly developed and mentored by three professors: Dr N Padmaja, Coordinator of AICTE IDEA lab and ECE Professor, Dr K Ramani, Head of Department for DS and Dr T V S Gowtham Prasad, Associate Professor of ECE.

Mohan Babu University (MBU) has awarded a cash prize of 10,000 rupees and certificates to the winning team of an annual event organised by Innovians Technology. The project was developed at the IDEA Lab, which supports students in translating their innovative ideas into products or prototypes that benefit society. The lab was established with a fund of INR 1.13 crores from AICTE and Host Institute.
