IIM Amritsar has announced its participation in the Capacity Building Programme for Design and Entrepreneurship (CBDE), an initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Education to foster innovation, entrepreneurship and skill development across India. The CBDE programme aims to empower educators, entrepreneurs and aspiring innovators by enhancing their skills in design and entrepreneurship, promoting a culture of creativity and encouraging the practical application of knowledge in real-world scenarios.
IIM Amritsar's participation in the CBDE programme aims to foster a vibrant start-up ecosystem in Punjab, align with National Education Policy (NEP) through industry-academic collaboration and leverage faculty expertise to train professionals and future leaders for an innovation-driven economy.
Held at IIM Amritsar's new campus, the ceremony commenced on October 25, 2024, beginning with the lighting of the lamp, symbolising knowledge and enlightenment. The new campus provided an inspiring and energising environment for this occasion. Key figures, including the program In-charge, Pankaj Gupta and the CBDE Programme Director, Sudhir Varadarajan, IITDM Kancheepuram, delivered insightful speeches that set the tone for a future-focused collaboration.
Speaking about IIM Amritsar's role in the CBDE programme, Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, Director expressed the institute’s commitment to contributing to skill development and fostering a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem. The institute's efforts align with the NEP's focus on promoting innovation and entrepreneurship at both the local and national levels.
In his address, Pankaj Gupta emphasised IIM Amritsar’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. He outlined the institute’s goals for the CBDE programme over the next three-five years, including developing an incubation centre integrated with the Centre for Entrepreneurship, building an innovation ecosystem in Punjab and nationally and creating collaboration opportunities for academia, small businesses and startups.
The event was graced by the presence of Aswathy Asokan Ajitha; Chetan Chitre; Mahima Gupta and Santosh Tiwari along with Harpreet Kaur, who delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the organisers, faculty and participants for making the initiative a success.
