ESKEYN Ventures Pledges $9.6 Million To IIT Hyderabad

The Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad is set to expand its innovation in healthcare technologies with a US$ 9.6 million infusion from Sushant Kumar, founder of Tanushree Foundation and ESKEYN Ventures. 

The funding will help CfHE achieve indigenisation of technology in the critical field of healthcare. The centre aims to accelerate the development and adoption of breakthrough healthcare solutions to improve patient outcomes.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the complexity and diversity of healthcare challenges, prompting initiatives like CfHE to promote innovation and collaboration among academia, industry and the entrepreneurial community.

CfHE has developed key innovations such as ArmAble, a stroke neurorehabilitation device from BeAble Health Pvt Ltd, Nemocare Raksha, an IoT-enabled wearable for neonates and Vaccine on Wheels, a platform enabling last-mile vaccinations for 2.5 million beneficiaries in three years, from Jivika Healthcare Pvt Limited.

Sushant Kumar, Founder, Tanushree Foundation and ESKEYN Ventures, said, “The substantial investment will empower CfHE to expand its initiatives aimed at nurturing aspiring healthcare entrepreneurs, providing them with the resources, mentorship and networking opportunities necessary to translate innovative ideas into impactful solutions.”

B S Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad, said, “Medical Devices and Diagnostics is one of the key areas of healthcare where a considerable gap exists in the supply of devices, trained workforce and indigenous development.”

B S Murty, further said, “CfHE undertakes proactive efforts to address this gap through focused programmes, with a vision for Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and Make in India, CfHE, IITH has taken bold steps in addressing this gap through focused programmes in Medical Devices, Development of Human Resources and Promotion of start-ups for indigenous development of medical devices and innovations.”
