Coursera, an online learning platform, has announced new initiatives to empower individuals and institutions with mission-critical GenAI skills. These include new GenAI-focused content, an enhanced Professional Certificate portfolio, upgrades to Coursera Coach and an expansion of the GenAI Academy to help businesses equip their teams with GenAI skills on AI Appreciation Day.
AWS and Access Partnership's report shows Indian employers are willing to pay 54 per cent more for AI workers. The new launches aim to meet the growing demand for GenAI skills globally and in India. With over 700,000 enrollments in over 250 GenAI courses on Coursera, India leads the charge with a 1,648 per cent year-over-year increase, making GenAI content available every minute.

Coursera's Generative AI Academy, launched in January 2024, provides executives and employees with the skills needed to thrive in an AI-driven workplace. The academy offers foundational literacy and executive education programmes from top research universities and AI companies like Microsoft, Stanford Online, Vanderbilt University, DeepLearning.AI, Fractal Analytics, Google Cloud and AWS.
Coursera is leveraging GenAI to enhance online learning by offering AI-powered translations for over 4,600 courses and 55 professional certificates in 21 languages, including Hindi. The platform's AI-powered Course Builder streamlines content creation, while its suite of tools strengthens assessment and grading processes, ensuring genuine learning and skill development for a global audience.
